Precise billing with Legal-for-Trade weighing systems
In the business world, accurate billing is crucial, especially when it comes to weight billing. This is where Legal for Trade weighing systems come into play. These systems must meet strict requirements to ensure accurate results. Find out what steps are required to successfully bill by weight using mobile weighing technology. Griptech offers a variety of calibrated weighing systems, from weighing hand pallet truck up to SOLAS-compliant hydraulic weighing system for reach stackers.
The role of Legal-for-Trade weighing systems
The heart of a successful weight-based billing system is a reliable weighing system that is certified as "Legal for Trade". To ensure that the same rules apply to everyone when certifying a scale, the OIML (International Organization of Legal Metrology) established clear rules for weighing. The OIML, the abbreviation for "Organisation Internationale de Métrologie Légale" or in German "International Organisation of Legal Metrology", was founded on October 12, 1955 in Paris. This organisation is dedicated to the harmonization and standardization in the field of metrology at an international level. Its main task is to develop recommendations and guidelines that serve as a global benchmark for the design of national and international measurement standards. These efforts support legal calibration and help to ensure that measurement methods and instruments are uniform and reliable worldwide. This makes an important contribution to global trade fairness and to building trust in measurement results across national borders.
Mobile weighing systems for a precise logistics solution
All leading brands and models of electric low lift truck and forklifts and Reach trucks and Reach stackers can be equipped with a mobile weighing system from Griptech. Our weighing hand pallet truck in the "Legal for Trade" certified version already has an integrated system for weight-based billing. It is important that all components of the weighing system, including the Display device and the load cells meet strict requirements. The Netherlands Metrology Institute (NMi) is responsible for certifying these components and conducts extensive testing to ensure accuracy.
In addition, every "Legal for Trade" weighing system interrupts the weighing process via a level switch if the scale is tilted by more than the permissible tolerances in order to avoid measurement errors. In addition, the weighed weight must be directly readable by the operator on a display.
Inspection and maintenance of mobile weighing systems for precise weight billing
Checking whether the weighing systems used to invoice goods by weight do not exceed the legally prescribed tolerances is carried out by unannounced inspectors commissioned by government agencies. The responsibility for ensuring that the mobile weighing systems meet the prescribed accuracy standards lies with the operator.
We recommend that you undergo annual recertification.
However, legal regulations regarding recertification intervals may vary.
Griptech: Your certified expert for mobile weighing systems
Both the initial certification and any subsequent certification may only be carried out by a representative of an appropriately certified institute. Griptech is trained and certified by the NMi (Dutch Metrology Institute) to develop and produce mobile weighing systems that can be verified by calibration and to carry out the initial manufacturer certification for non-automatic scales (NAWI) and automatic scales (AWI hydraulic weighing system).
